RED LIP KIND OF DAY

Dress - Topshop
Necklace - H&M
Bag - Michael Kors
Heels - Dorothy Perkins

So I know this is another dressy post right after the last one, and the same shoes but thought I would share it anyway! This dress, once again, is very flattering, especially as it just flows down and is NOT tight in any way! It is quite short, so could be good if something was worn underneath. Due to the neckline being as it is I decided to wear a chocker style necklace, and the gold went perfectly well with the detailing on the shoes, and the bag.

My makeup was done using my favourite combination on colours from the Naked 1 palette from Urban Decay. This lipstick is so good!!! It's relatively cheap from Topshop Beauty, and comes like a lipgloss, but dries matt. I can't find the link on the Topshop website, but this colour is in every store I've been in. I found it not to smudge, and stay on really well throughout the night.

COMING TO THE END OF AN ERA

Dress - Topshop
Necklace - Topshop
Heels -  Dorothy Perkins

So on Thursday was the 'geography ball', and for those of you who don't know me personally, I am currently in my third year, studying geography, at Portsmouth. It was the last geography society event, and it turned out to be the best one! This wasn't instead of grad ball, but that isn't until July.

Anyway, this is what I wore! Such a simple dress but I absolutely loved it. It was a really flattering colour, and the fit was really loose, which I think really suits me. I bought this cute little necklace from Topshop too. The heels were the 'barely there' sandal style, but on the heel part was a side of gold (probably see it easier on the website). All of the outfit turned out to be pretty cheap, especially as I know I will wear it again, especially on holiday.

My makeup was done using my usual go-to foundation by Laura Mercier. It is very full coverage, which for events like this is perfect. My eyeshadow was done using the Naked Palette. On my lips was Soar Lip Liner from MAC, and HoneyLove lipstick, also from MAC. My hair I curled using my babyliss wand.

I absolutely loved getting to be dressed up, and hope you like the outfit too!

MY NEW MAKEUP OBSESSION: MAC CRANBERRY

So one of my Christmas presents was this glorious eye shadow, which I am now obsessed with! It's so beautiful, it's from MAC and it's called Cranberry (buy from here). It's a really lovely berry shade, but has more of a red tone than I thought when I put it on my lids, but it's not red, so I would say a mixture of the two (terrible description, apologies). It's actually really nice to wear some colour on my eyes, and even though it is a bold colour on my eyes I have worn it with every shade of lipstick from nude to a bright red, so it really doesn't change any other makeup I would wear.

I bought a new makeup brush which felt like it cost the earth (can buy from here) which is a MAC 224 blending brush. Even though it was ridiculously expensive (like £24 or something?!?!), I genuinely think it was worth it! This brush is all I use to apply this makeup, it puts the shadow onto my lids well, and obviously blends well too.

Have you got any recommendations for my to try new eyeshadow colours?

Lots of love,
Alice

THE KYLIE JENNER LIP

Everyone is obsessed with Kylie Jenner ATM, and I am most definitely one of the obsessed!  There have been lots of tutorials about using different lip colours to get you the Kylie Jenner inspired lip, but I have taken note from pixiwoo (ultimate makeup artists) and bought these two products; I got these recommendations from the tutorial linked here

The lip pencil is a dark nude, and the lipstick a lighter nude. I apply the lip pencil all over my lip, then the lipstick on top, but leaving a clearer outline of the lip pencil on show. I think the combination of the lip pencil underneath the lipstick makes it stay on sooooo well! The other night I went out for dinner, then drinks and it stayed on close to perfect!!

The picture doesn't really do the lip justice. You know when you take loads of selfies trying to show your lipstick, and none work? Well this was the best out of the bunch, the serious ones were just NOT happening! But I am non-stop wearing this lip currently so better pictures in upcoming posts will show it better!!

I'd love to here any recommendations on getting the Kylie Jenner lip?!

LATEST BEAUTY PURCHASES

I have been using the YSL mascara, but it has been running out so needed another one to replace it. I didn't have enough money to afford that one so I really needed a cheap alternative. I was doing a bit of research on cheaper mascaras and I saw Fleur DeForce did a video of her top 10 under £10, which I found really helpful. After using the mascara for about two weeks I would highly recommend it! The consistency is quite thick, it helps with volume and length, and it is the perfect type of mascara that I like.

This wasn't something that I was going out to buy, but Rimmel had an offer of buying 2 items for £10 so I thought I would try. I'm not totally sure on this, maybe because I've never really used a proper 'primer', but I will hopefully have more of an opinion when I try it for a little longer. I'm interested to see if using this primer helps the foundation stay on longer, because I haven't used the foundation without this yet.

I have been using a Laura Mercier foundation for about 6-9 months now and I have absolutely loved it. It is pretty full coverage, and that is just what I wanted, so when I started running out I knew it was going to be quite difficult to find something I love just as much. Another one of Fleur's videos is her top 10 foundations under £10, which, once again, I felt was very informative and so I went for this one! I like medium to full coverage (or as close to), and this was the one I chose. I have quite liked it so far as an everyday foundation (I am keeping the last bit of my Laura Mercier one for my nights out). The staying power isn't too bad, not as long as I am used to but it is so cheap that I think it's totally worth it.

Link to Fleurs channel here if you want to watch the video's. The foundation one was most recent, but I think she's done bronzers, skincare etcetc.

Any recommendations for 'high street' makeup? I'm now back at University and my budget is tight!

THE BODY SHOP: SATSUMA BODY BUTTER

Bit of a different post today, no OOTD! I have been seriously obsessed with this body butter from the body shop (linked here). I got it from the Gunwharf Outlet store, so got it SOOO cheap, but looking it up it's originally £13, which I think is quite expensive, but either way the product itself I love.

The texture is extremely creamy (I expected a harder texture), and I have been using it mainly to moisturise my legs. Not only does it moisturise my legs for ages after I've applied it, but also the smell is divine. I don't eat satsuma's but my god is this smell amazing!! After I apply it I go into my housemates' rooms and all they can smell is this stuff! I would highly recommend it, but I would even more recommend it if you get it from the Portsmouth Outlet store as it was so much cheaper than the original price!

Any products you've been obsessed with?

Relaxing in Rhodes - Look 4

Necklace - Zara
Top - ASOS
Shorts - Topshop
Sandals - Primark
Bag - Primark

Love these shorts, but they do not have any stretch in them, so once I stuffed dinner plus a nutella crepe they were getting rather tight lol! But they were still just as beautiful.

Also on my lips I wore my new Tanya Burr Lipgloss in Exotic Island, really bright pink.

New beauty buys!

These are just a couple of things that I have picked up recently beauty-wise.

The Tanya Burr Cosmetics lip glosses are something that I have wanted to buy for a while. I used the bright pink shade named 'exotic island' the other day which I borrowed from my sister, but I loved it so decided to buy. The shade comes across really bright, and not as sheer as any others I have tried. The other nude shade I bought is named 'aurora' I have tried yet. I have wanted a nude gloss for quite a while but never bought one so whilst I went into super drug I thought I would try this one.

Next is the No7 Cream Blush in the shade Rose Blossom. I haven't got a really pink blush, and I haven't tried a cream blush so thought I would incorporate the two and buy this one. I haven't worn it on my cheeks yet, but swatching it, it looks beautiful. When you first apply it it is quite a bright pink never-to-be-worn shade, but when you blend it out with fingers the shade looks really pretty. As I said I haven't worn it properly yet, but will update on whether I like/dislike it.

Finally it the Dior BB Creme. This is something that I have been recommended to try for a base to use on holiday. As it is a BB Creme the coverage is much lighter to what I'm used to, but on holiday it's nice not to wear heavy makeup. I got the shade 003, which I think may be the darkest, but I am only going to be using it whilst I'm tanned. I really hope I like it when I try it as it is quite pricey, but can look very beautiful and dewy on the skin.

Any beauty tips on any of these products, or recommendations on any others?

Cocktail Bling

I got this nail varnish so long ago as a present but I forgot to post about it then so thought I would now! It's an essie polish in the colour 'cocktail bling'. It's like a grey colour, but not like a dull grey if that makes sense. I find these sorts of colours really easy to wear, and as I don't normally paint my nails (I don't have the patience) it was nice to wear some for once! When I wore it at work I got customers commenting on how they liked it, so hope you do too!

Anyone have any tips on how to paint your nails without getting it around your nails rather than on them?

A few new makeup/beauty buys

Hi guys,

So Debenhams had another megaweek last week, which meant 10% off of cosmetics which I think is so good! Plus I had beauty club points so thought I'd use them! I probably (actually definitely!) spent a little too much, but I needed some makeup buys before I went back to Uni!

Clarisonic heads
Really needed to get these, but they are actually quite expensive! It comes in a pack of two though, which is helpful a couple of months down the line!
MAC - Embark
I was recommended this by my sister, although I need to buy MAC Copperplate to go with it, but it was unavailable. I haven't had too many MAC eyeshadows so I am intrigued as to how they will look/ stay on well.
MAC - Omega
I bought this mainly to use for my eyebrows. I've always used an eyebrow pencil, but I thought by using this it might be more precise, and I have liked using it so far.
MAC - 266 brush
This brush was mainly to go with the eyeshadow I bought for my eyebrows. It's really thin so is really good for eyebrows.
Clinique Chubby Stick - 02 lots o' latte
This was definitely one of those impulse buys! I have seen some Youtube tutorials where they have used one and it just seems so easy, and I can tell you it is. It's practically a big soft pencil that you can apply all over your lid, and you just need to blend out a little. I am really happy with this buy and would definitely recommend it!

Thanks for reading,
